All good things...

Hi everyone.

As you’ve no doubt heard, we are now officially closed. This is no one’s fault, so there is no direction to turn to assign blame. Sometimes things just don’t turn out the way you hoped. If you’d like to follow your stylist or colorist to their new home however (and you absolutely should), please email info@miccichesalon.com. We’ll be happy to direct you to their new homes.

The Micciche family thanks our incredible customers and our fabulous friends for what’s been a wonderful 38 years serving Forest Hills. We have truly loved every moment.

Sincerely,

Jason

Vaccinated guests may now unmask!

Just a quick update today, to let everyone know that vaccinated guests at Micciche Salon may now remove their masks when they visit with us! When you arrive, simply display your vaccine ID card or show it via the mobile app on your smartphone. Once we have confirmed your vaccine-status, you will be free to move about the shop with or without your mask.

Unvaccinated guests will unfortunately still need to remain masked at all times while in the salon. We will however continue to stay up to date on any new guidance from NY State. As soon as it is deemed safe to do so, we will remove that requirement and alert everyone!

Please note too, that if you are either vaccinated or unvaccinated, and you are uncomfortable with the mixed setting including unmasked guests, our lower level is fully prepped and ready for you. As long as it is possible, we can relocate your services there. If it is not possible, we can always provide safety barriers at your stylist or colorist's station. Just ask!

Celebrate the 4th with some red, white, and blue

Independence day is just a little over a week away, and we've got some terrific new red, white, and blue in our shop! Necklaces, fans, buttons, bags, pinwheels and more have all been added and are ready to help you show your support!

Stop in and see what's new, or pop over while you're visiting with us!

Masking update and possible changes coming!

Good afternoon everyone!

We have an update for you on the current ‘full reopening’ process today. While we are maintaining our plan for now, we are hearing news from the WHO that they now are once again recommending universal masking. Yes, that would mean for the vaccinated as well. This is in reference to the Delta Variant you’ve no doubt heard about.
While they are saying that however, our own CDC has not changed its recommendations. So as of now, we are still planning on making masks optional for vaccinated people as of the 1st of July. We are watching the situation very closely however, and if there are any changes, we will let you know immediately.
Thank you!

Covid update: It's a new day in New York!

NY's changing Covid restrictions and what it means for the shop!

Good Wednesday everyone!

As you may or may not be aware, NY has made some quick changes to its Covid restrictions for businesses and event spaces as of today. Aside from a few other things, the new updates also bring the state's mask-mandates into line with CDC recommendations.

That means that vaccinated people are no longer required to wear their masks while indoors. While that is most welcome, the state has also left it up to individual businesses to set their own rules. And to that end, Micciche Salon will be holding with its own mask requirements for now.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this might cause. Please understand that the last thing we want to do is make life tougher for those who have gone to get vaccinated. But all the same, we are worried about the timing of this decision, and as you all know we always prefer to err on the side of caution.

Our mask-mandate will not be permanent though. We envision that it will stay in place only until July 1st. That is when NY's more wide-reaching repeal of Covid restrictions is set to activate. The spacing between now and then, just a little over a month (if you can believe it) will allow us to make sure that there is no surge of new cases from the rule repeal. Once we ditch the mask rule, we would like for it to stay ditched.

So again, we hope that you understand, and we look forward to the day that all of this will be behind us for good.

Thank you,

Jason

Huge news today, as NYC will be re-opening 100% on July 1st!

Good afternoon everyone!

It's a terrific day, and one that we've been waiting quite a while for. This morning Mayor de Blasio announced that NYC (which includes Queens of course) would be fully opened, and that the city's businesses either will begin or be returned to 100% as of July 1st, 2021!

This has been a long time coming, and we are excited to once again be able to serve our terrific clientele as they've become accustomed to. As we prepare for this grand re-opening, there are some things to keep in mind. Namely, we do not yet know exactly what this comeback will look like.

Though the mayor has said things will be getting back to normal, we do not know the status of mask-mandates, social distancing, etc. It could be that some of these special measures will still be in place. But even if things like masks and enhanced cleaning protocols are to be dissolved officially, we will be tailoring some of those policies for continued use.

Micciche Salon has made preparations for a special masked area, cut off from the rest of the shop, which will continue to be used post-pandemic. Additionally, we will continue our between-guests station cleanings as they are now. We want every one of guests to be safe and comfortable going forward!

No doubt we will have much more to add on all of the above as we proceed to July 1st, so watch for updates on our facebook page, and here on our official blog. In the meantime though, get ready for what the Mayor has called "the summer of New York City"!
